Dr. Steven Hogue has been an optometrist in Hamilton for over twenty five years. He attended Talawanda High School and did his undergraduate studies at Miami University before earning his Doctor of Optometry degree from Ohio State University’s College of Optometry.  He has a daughter finishing her masters degree in education/sports at Miami University and a son living in Kansas City. When he is not asking “which is better 1 or 2” one can find him enjoying the weather with his wife, Judy, riding their tandem bicycle, rollerblading, snow skiing or playing hockey in an “over 30” men’s league at the Miami ice rink.   He still very much enjoys his days in the office and is proud that he has a positive influence on someone’s life every day.

Donna Mapel started working for Dr. Hogue as a high school student over twenty-five years ago.  While concentrating mainly on helping our many contact lens patients she also can truly do any task necessary to keep the office running efficiently.
She and her husband, Daryl, have teenage twin daughters that keep her busy. Donna loves enjoying the summer months swimming, boating, and anything that allows her to soak up the sun. In the winter she follows NASCAR and enjoys reading. 

A recent addition to the office is Dr. Hogue’s better half, Judy. What started as a decision to help out on a part-time basis has become full-time. Her smile and laughter has provided a foundation to help all of us enjoy the work day. She started by taking case histories and preliminary testing while doing many of the basic tasks that are needed in running the office. She is constantly learning new tasks so she can eventually fill in wherever needed. She can be found around town whistling on the back of their recumbent tandem if she is not landscaping the yard or tending to her gardens. She is the proud mother of twin daughters that live in Mansfield, Ohio.

Jo Burroughs came to our practice in January 2006 to replace long time employee, Faye Jackson. Jo has worked over twenty years in the optical and medical fields.  We feel fortunate to have found someone with optical experience and a warm, caring personality. With her background in insurance management she has added to our ability to get the most benefit out of your insurance plan. Jo has a son and daughter that both live in Hamilton. Her three pre-school grandchildren keep her busy when she is not in the office.

We are pleased to have April Petri back in our part time position. She brings a youthful vitality to our office with her exuberant personality. April has been a full time Mom for the last several years but now all the kids are in school. She and her husband, Bo, have two daughters and a son that cause them to put many miles on their mini-van every year whether it is to a national cheerleading competition or whatever game is in season.  April will be helping with frame selection and frame dispensing as well as back office tasks to keep our office running smoothly.
